The town of Cerro Gordo is located in Piatt County, 16 miles east of the city of Decatur. This Central Illinois community is surrounded by farmland, and offers residents a rural, small-town lifestyle whilst only being a short drive away from the city. The town has a population of around 1,300 people as of 2021, and is nicknamed "Fat Hill"—a direct translation from Spanish.
